I have been extensively climbing and mountaineering since 2005, but was brought up in the hills and on the crags as my Dad was also an instructor. Since getting back into climbing and mountaineering I have travelled all over the world pursing my passion. I feel totally content and relaxed in the mountains and love trying to impart the joy of being in the outdoors on others. Since following the MIA pathway I have introduced lots of people to a new hobby, be that trad climbing or hillwalking. I get most fulfilment from seeing people who I have instructed going out and sending me pictures of them on their journeys.
Colin is a passionate mountain enthusiast, who enjoys sharing both his enthusiam and mountain skills with others. Colin follows the industry with interest and is very knowledgable on the latest technologies, equipment and techniques. Colin is noted for his happy demeanour and willingness to coach and support others. I have not hesitation in recommending Colin to AMI.
I have known and climbed with Colin for a number of years, since first tying on together to do The Last Post on Meggy (on which Col led the crux with ease). He is a highly competent mountaineer with a great depth of experience. Having spent time in the mountains with Colin both personally and professionally (on military time), I can wholeheartedly vouch for his steadiness under pressure, attention to detail and good humour, which make him a pleasure to be in the mountains with - particularly when things get challenging. Colin is one of the most psyched winter climbers I know and his passion for the Scottish mountains in winter (or indeed anywhere when it comes in!) shines through. I have no doubt that this passion, combined with his natural ability at passing on skills and instructing, will make him an excellent MIC.
