I have known Nick Cully for some 15 years, since leading him myself in a team of school students to Africa for a month long expedition. Over time Nick has built up his considerable experience in a methodical, consistent and steady rate. His natural empathy and understanding of group needs in remote environments have shone brighter than more qualified Mountain Leaders and this is why I personally see him as a leader of choice for any of our expeditions. He is equally at ease with Jungle, deserts or mountains and across the spectum of groups – male/female/adults and youngsters. During the past 5 years whilst leading for us, (he had led priviously for other companies), he has being the consumate professional, managing incidents, both minor with little consequences and on occasions incidents that if not managed correctly could have turned out more serious. His manor and personality is such that it instils great confidence and this is justified. The fact that he is seeking professional development in qualifications is the mark of his continual and encouraging approach and it will only benefit the wider outdoor/mountaineering industry.
