The South West Coast Path winds its way through, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset and is currently the UK's longest national trail with 630 miles of stunning coastline. I've hiked the whole trail, but I'm based in Cornwall where I've been walking and hiking along 300 miles of this spectacular trail for over 35 years. I think it's fair to say I know it pretty well! But as well as Cornwall's coastline there are coast to coast hikes, quiet creeks and countryside walks to explore.
I've hiked other national trails in the south of the UK, (with more being planned for 2020) and over the years I've also explored many of our National Parks from Dartmoor to The Lake District. I love long distance walks, day hikes and multi-day hikes, and almost always wild camp along the way.
I become a Lowland Leader so I can help other people (especially women) to challenge themselves, enjoy our spectacular coastline and the natural world. But it's not just about leading groups and providing a great experience, safely and enthusiastically. I learnt that teaching even basic skills to others is what enables them to put down the guide book and devise their own walks. And that's empowering!
