WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
This is night navigation practise opportunity run, as a peer-to-peer learning activity for Mountain Training Association members, held off-path on the rough heather moorland of Midhope Moor (south of Langsett Reservoir) at night and lasting approx. 2.5 hours
The start location is the Yorkshire Water Flouch car park (OS Grid Ref. SE 20028 01213)
This activity will allow people, working in small groups, to seek out a set of pre-identified map features on the moors while using navigation strategies and techniques suitable for both night and poor visibility conditions.
As a peer-to-peer activity attendees will be expected to be familiar with basic map and compass techniques applicable to off-path navigation and be able to take care of themselves on challenging high moorland terrain.
There will be an opportunity to re-convene in a pub a short drive away to de-brief after the event if wished.
