Award Description
A safe working environment is a basic right for all workers and a responsibility for all employers. This one-day first aid course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills, providing employers and your staff with the skills to reduce the risks and dangers in your workplace. The Emergency First Aid at Work is endorsed by CIMSPA and the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum.
RLSS UK is regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland.
Prerequisites:
Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of taking the assessment.
No prior first aid knowledge is required.
Course Content:
Assessment:
Emergency First Aid at Work is Trainer Assessed throughout the course and the assessment should determine a learner’s ability to act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work and to deal with a casualty. All Assessment Criteria in the units must be achieved.
Renewal:
To re-qualify, learners must be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the unit. For EFAW this will be the same as the initial course of six hours. An EFAW renewal course must not be run over a period of more than three weeks.
The Emergency First Aid at Work Course requires a minimum of 6 hours (1 day) training and requires 100% attendance. The course will be delivered using a variety of methods including:
The Emergency First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of successful completion of the course.
Topics Covered:
You will learn how to provide emergency first aid in the workplace to colleagues, including the management of unconscious casualties, CPR, bleeding, shock, minor injuries and a variety of first aid related incidents in the workplace.

Course Assessment:
The competence of each learner is continually assessed by the trainer during the course. Learners will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the topics covered through written theory question as well as practical demonstrations of first aid skills.
