Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
CHMAS Training is pleased to offer the Mountain Training (MT) Lowland Leader Scheme, which is a great award for those who wish to lead groups in lowland countryside. We have a run a few of these courses now and Chris & Martin really enjoy running them.

The CHMAS Lowland Leader Training Course
CHMAS offer a 2 day (16 hour) Lowland Leader Training course, that includes a mix of practical indoor and outdoor sessions run in the beatifull Shropshire Countryside.
Over the two days, you will lots of fun, as we work our way through through the syllabus while out and about in the countryside. We will look at the following topics - Leadership skills and group management - Walking skills - Planning a walk - Fundamental map and route finding skills - Equipment - Hazards and emergency procedures - Environmental awareness, conservation, access and land ownership and Teaching Skills.
Although we are oblied to follow a syllabus we weil also provide you with lots of hints and tips to engage people on your walks and keep them entertained.
