Open Water Lifeguard (OWL) Qualification
Open water swimming is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK. The OWL qualification has been specifically designed to equip Open Water Lifeguards with the skills required to supervise and provide rescue cover for planned, organised and risk assessed activities in still or non-tidal water.

The OWL course requires a minimum of 18 hours of training followed by a practical assessment.

Course Content:
There are three sections to the course, and a candidate must pass all three to attain the qualification.
Section 1 – The Open Water Lifeguard, environment, hazards and supervision
Section 2 – Responding to an emergency and taking action
Section 3 – CPR and First Aid
This is a 1 day open water lifeguard conversion course for those with an existing NPLQ qualification, your NPLQ qualification must be valid and not expire before 20/04/24.
Colwick Park Lifeguards are a leading provider of open water safety provision. If you are interested in lifeguarding open water then this is the qualification for you, providing all the skills and knowledge to lifeguard open water safely. Colwick Park Lifeguards working in partnership with the RLSS provide water safety provision at open water events across the country, including Wilderness festival, Secret Garden Party, Henley Royal Regatta and much more. Colwick Park Lifeguards and the RLSS are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who wish to attend these events as Open Water Lifeguards. Volunteers who complete a full event will be eligible to claim a refund for the full cost of this course.
