I split my time between Sheffield, North Wales & the West Highlands. I travel throughout the UK to work and climb. I have been instructing for over 15 years with a focus on rock climbing, winter climbing and navigation in the UK and am Hill and Mountain Skills tutor.
Several times a year I work as an Expedition Leader and have led over 20 expeditions overseas, working for Secret Compass and Jagged Globe.
Whilst working as an instructor I have undertook a PhD in Glacial Geomorphology at the University of Sheffield.
I have climbed in the majority of the Greater Ranges having most recently completed a personal expedition which involved mountaineering in Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The latter two were funded by the Mount Everest Foundation, British Mountaineering Council (Julie Tullis Award) and the Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust. I have also made four first ascents in South Georgia, Antarctica and climbed to 7000m.
Currently, I am writing an article series on Expedition Planning for Trek and Mountain Magazine.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

I've always enjoyed being in the outdoors, walking and climbing was a way I could spend more time outside. Walking led to winter walking and mountaineering, and rock climbing led to winter climbing and Alpinism. After taking my first flight to South Africa when I was 17 I also began to travel widely, together with my interest in the outdoors, travel ignited my interest in physical geography. I began to go on expeditions which led to me becoming an expedition leader, as well as travelling to various mountain ranges around the world for high altitude mountaineering and ski touring. I continue to explore, challenge myself in the mountains and on the crags and spend time experiencing different mountain cultures around the world.
