My outdoor career started at a young age. One of my earliest outdoor experiences was turning back on Ben Nevis, aged 8, wearing wellington boots, with my parents. There enjoyment of the outdoors was instilled in me. Throughout my school years we would often go away as a family, hiking at weekends and for longer breaks. At Easter and October half term we would travel to the Lake District for a fortnight of hiking and scrambling, with the occasional climb.
When I was younger I was mostly led around the walks. That was until my parents eyes deteriorated with their denial of needing glasses the map reading regularly became my responsibility. During these vacations we climbed all of the major Lakeland peaks by different routes of varying technical difficulty. We summited many of the Wainwrights, although I do not have a definitive list of those completed. Family trips away continued until I left home at 18.
My love of the outdoors continued into my adult life. I regularly travel throughout the UK, and further afield, in all seasons, in search of adventure. I have joined the London Mountaineering Club becoming more involved in club life and I am the current club Secretary.
