Whilst a teenager I was introduced to the “outdoors” by being in the Scouts. I enjoyed rock climbing and hill walking along with many other activities such as kayaking and mountain biking.
As a Uni student I was offered the opportunity to undertake SPA Training and then ML Training. Whilst still at University I took the SPA assessment and then promptly started a career as a Police Officer which kept me busy. I managed to get out on days off but shifts made it difficult to continue with my hobbies.
In 2005 I finally managed to get round to doing ML Assessment and in 2007 I finally left the Police and worked at a FE College teaching Outdoor Education.
In 2009 and 2010 respectively I gained WML and MIA.
In August 2018 I left teaching at a college to concentrate on my own business and with a bit more free time, in Feb 2020 I finally achieved the WMCI.
I now spend my time running Mountain Training and Royal Lifesaving Society courses as well as undertaking AALA inspections.
