Mike is a dedicated instructor who has a broad depth of experience in working with client groups. He has a particular passion for working with young people and has been a longstanding volunteer and coach with Mountaineering Ireland's Youth programme. This has included working with groups on a regular basis to progress their development and trips further afield. He has worked alongside other MIA/MIC's in teaching leading and Multi-pitch climbing. I have climbed with Mike in both Ireland and Scotland on a number of trips, he is a steady and reliable climbing partner. I have no hesitation in recommending Mike go forward for his MIA assessment. Mike is a highly experienced, multi skilled instructor who delivers courses to a very high specification. He can draw from a long and varied career in the outdoors to enrich the quality of any mountain day. Mike is a passionate instructor who can equally hold the interest of a young child to a committed climber looking to improve. He displays excellent leadership skills and is professional in his approach to everything he does. Mike is a committed outdoor professional who at the end of a long day on the hill will then go out afterwards to continue to develop his own skills and experience. He is selfless in sharing his passion for the outdoors with others and regularly works for our national governing body, MOuntaineering IReland delivering courses to support young and talented climbers and mountaineers. He continually seeks to improve his own skill set and regularly attends a wide variety of CPD and further training courses to constantly stay at the forefront of good practice to ensure he delivers the best to his clients. Aside from his high level of personal integrity, technical skill and instructional ability he is a personable and friendly mountaineer who embodies all the positive qualities one could hope to meet in the outdoors. Mike is well known and well regarded throughout the outdoor community in Ireland not just for his mountain skills but his culinary skills.
