Description

Starting from Invermark Lodge in Glen Mark we headed up Ladder Burn. The paths were really iced up with water ice and very very slippy.
We headed up Mount Keen just as the forecasted snow arrived. From Mount keen we headed over the bealach to the summit of Braid Cairn. Visibility was reduced as we headed south down the spur back towards Ladder Burn. We decided to put crampons on the reduce the risk of slipping on the iced up paths.

Area : Braemar to Montrose (Lochnagar)

Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
