Jason has been working in the mountain environment for a number of years now and I have worked alongside him several times a year for the last 6 years. He develops good working relationships with groups and is keen to pass on skills rather than simply lead people on a walk. He has developed a sound general sense of risk and tries to adjust his plans to take account of people's abilities and limitations.

I have worked with Jason on numerous occasions over the last 7 years. Most of this has been with children of secondary school age, with whom he is able to strike a good balance between being easy going and approachable, while being prepared to take on a more commanding role when appropriate. We have led groups together in the mountains, where again he has proved easy to work with as a colleague and effective as a group leader and instructor. He has developed a good understanding of the mountain environment and is both keen and engaging when sharing this understanding with others. Jason is an able provider who has delivered a variety of Hill Skills Courses for my students from Oswestry School. In all cases he has delivered an enjoyable for the students pitched at the right level, depending on his audience, whilst also meeting the course requirements. He has recently applied to become an MTAAP and I would endorse this application, stating that I feel he has the skills and manner appropriate for delivering in this role at the level indicated. This reference is for that application on the 20/10/16.

Jason has been an enthusiast in the outdoors since I have known him, he is a keen mountaineer both summer and winter. We have been on several winter and summer expeditions together into the Scottish mountains, the Lake district and North Wales. Jason works well with school groups and has an ability to relate to any age group. He has an easy going nature but can also react to situations in a more authoritarian way when required. He has experience of working on 5 day mountaineering courses with the Army Cadet Force and CCF. He also has experience of supervising and training D of E groups. I know Jason has a love of the outdoors and believe he will pass that experience on to his groups in the future.
